Pre-School Admissions Information

At Fulfen Primary School, we are proud to offer high-quality, teacher-led Pre-School education.

Places available

Morning Pre-School: 52 places, 8:30am-11:30am
Wrap-around care: Up to 42 places, 11:30am-3:15pm, for children attending the morning session who require additional childcare
Children are expected to attend five morning sessions each week to ensure continuity of provision
We offer 15-hour and up to 30-hour funded places for eligible children
Additional paid sessions, including before and after school care, are also available

Admissions for September 2027

If your child turns 3 between 1st September 2026 and 31st August 2027, you can apply for a Pre-School place starting in September 2027.

Applications open: 1st August 2026
Applications close: 25th March 2027
Offer day: 16th April 2027

Pre-School admissions are managed directly by Fulfen Primary School.

Applications received after the closing date should be made directly to the school office.

January 2028 start

If you would like your child to start in January 2028, please use the application form above.

Please note that January places cannot be guaranteed and will depend on availability following the September admissions process and any changes in circumstances. Any January places available will be offered in mid-October.

Admissions criteria

If applications exceed the number of places available, the following criteria will apply:

Siblings of children already attending Fulfen, looked-after children and children with SEN.
Children requesting five wrap-around afternoon sessions each week.
Children requesting 1–4 wrap-around afternoon sessions each week.
Distance from home to school.

There is no formal appeals process for Pre-School admissions.

A separate application must be made to Staffordshire County Council for a Reception place at the appropriate time. Find out more about Reception admissions.

Early expression of interest

If your child will be eligible for Pre-School in a future year, you can register an early interest:

September 2028 entry: children born 1st September 2024-31st August 2025 – complete the expression of interest form
September 2029 entry: children born 1st September 2025-31st August 2026 – complete the expression of interest form

Please note that an early expression of interest does not guarantee a place.

Open Mornings

We regularly hold Open Mornings for prospective Pre-School parents. This is an opportunity to visit our setting, meet the team and find out more about our provision.

Our next Open Morning will take place during the Spring term. Details will be shared here when available.

Changing sessions

If you would like to make changes to your child's sessions during the school year, please contact: nursery@fulfen.staffs.sch.uk

Children with disabilities

Fulfen Primary School admits children with disabilities in line with our Admissions Policy, the Equality Act 2010 and the School Admissions Code.

Where we are oversubscribed, our published admissions criteria will apply. We will make reasonable adjustments to ensure that no child is placed at a disadvantage.

Parents and carers of children with disabilities are encouraged to contact us before admission to discuss any adjustments that may be required.
