Pre-School Admissions Information

At Fulfen Primary School, we are proud to offer high-quality, teacher-led Pre-School education.

Places Available

• Morning Pre-School: 52 places (8:30am – 11:30am)

• Wrap-around Care: Up to 52 afternoon places (12:15pm – 3:15pm), available for children attending the morning session who require additional childcare.

Children are expected to attend five morning sessions per week as a minimum to ensure continuity of provision.

Funding and Additional Care

We offer both 15-hour and 30-hour funded places for eligible children. Additional paid sessions are also available, including before and after school care.

Admissions for September 2026

If your child turns 3 between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026, you can apply for a Pre-School place starting in September 2026.

• Applications Open: 1st September 2025

• Applications Close: 27th March 2026

• Offer Day: 17th April 2026

Applications received after the closing date should be made directly to the school office.

If you would like your child to start in January 2027, please use the link above to submit an application for September 2026. Unfortunately, places for a January start cannot be guaranteed, and are subject to availability based on existing admissions and any changes in circumstances.

Admissions Process

Applications for Pre-School places (2026–27) will be managed by Fulfen Primary School. Please note, there is no formal appeals process for Pre-School admissions. Where applications exceed available places, the following criteria will apply:

1. Siblings of children already at Fulfen / Looked After Children / children with SEN.

2. Children requesting five wrap-around afternoon sessions per week.

3. Children requesting 1–4 wrap-around sessions.

4. Distance from home to school.

Please note: A separate application must be made to Staffordshire County Council for Reception places at the appropriate time. See here for more information.

Early Expression of Interest

If your child will be eligible for Pre-School in a future year, you can register an early interest:

• September 2027 entry (children born 1 Sept 2023 – 31 Aug 2024) – please complete this form.

• September 2028 entry (children born 1 Sept 2024 – 31 Aug 2025) – please complete this form.

• September 2029 entry (children born 1 Sept 2025 – 31 Aug 2026) – please complete this form.

Open Mornings

We regularly hold open mornings for prospective Pre-School parents, providing an opportunity to visit our setting, meet the team, and learn more about what we offer. Our next open morning will take place during the Autumn term, and we look forward to welcoming new families to explore our environment.

Admissions for Children with Disabilities

Fulfen Primary School admits children with disabilities in line with our published Admissions Policy. We comply fully with the Equality Act 2010 and the School Admissions Code. Where oversubscribed, our published criteria will apply.

We are committed to making reasonable adjustments to ensure no child is placed at a disadvantage. Parents and carers of children with disabilities are encouraged to contact us prior to admission so we can plan any necessary adjustments together.
