Pre School Reading & Phonics
As part as our 'Reading' challenge, we have introduced a new 'Reading at Home' competition. Please see the attached leaflet that explains the benefits of reading a story per day and ways that you can support your child on their learning journey. (Your child needs you!). Children can exchange their class library book as often as they wish. We ask parents to write a short comment on their reading record and they recieve a star. When the children reach 10 stars - they have adip in the prize box. At the end of each half term, the child with the most stars gets a special prize.
Please see the library application form - we are aiming to get every child to join the library. The librarian will be coming into school to talk about the library and the other services that it has to offer.
Phonics - We focus on teaching speaking and listening during the Autumn term and then use the Rocket Phonics Programme to introduce teaching letter sounds once the children are ready. (Usually this begins in the Spring term).
