Pre-School Admissions Information

We have 52 morning places in our teacher led Pre-School provision and also offer up to 52 afternoon places in our 'Wrap-around' provision (for children who attend morning Pre-School classes and require extra childcare).

We offer both 15 and 30 hour funded places for children. Additional paid sessions are also available plus before and after school sessions.

If your child turns 3 between 1 September 2023 and 31 August 2024 then you can apply for a place at our Pre-School for September 2024.

We currently have 2 Pre-School classes with a total of 52 places. Each class has a teacher and teaching assistant.

- 52 Morning places (8:30am – 11:30am)

- 52 Afternoon places (12:15pm – 3:15pm) for children who attend morning Pre-School sessions and require extra childcare.

To ensure continuity of provision, children are expected to attend five morning sessions each week as a minimum.

Applications Open: 1^st September 2023

Applications Close: 31^st March 2024. Applications made after this date should contact the school office directly.

Applications for Pre-School places for 2024/25 will be processed and co-ordinated by Fulfen Primary School. There is no appeals process for Pre-School admissions and the places will be allocated using our Pre-School admissions criteria, which, should applications exceed the number of places are:

Siblings of children currently in school/LAC or SEN children;
Children requesting 5 afternoon wrap-around afternoon sessions per week;
Children requesting between 1-4 wrap-around afternoon sessions;
Distance from home to school

Parents must then make a separate application for admission to Reception at the appropriate time using the Staffordshire County Council applications process (see here).

Early Expression of Interest

Should you wish to express early interest in your child joining Pre-School in September 2025 (for children born between 1st September 2021 and 31st August 2022), please complete this form.

You can also express early interest in your child joining Pre-School in September 2026 (for children born between 1st September 2022 and 31st August 2023), by completing this form.

Whilst your child is in Pre-School, if you wish to make any changes to their hours as the year progresses, please email nursery@fulfen.staffs.sch.uk.

Open Mornings

We hold Open Mornings for prospective parents of Nursery and Reception children; this is a chance to meet the Headteacher, have a tour of the school with a chance to ask any questions. All sessions last around an hour.

Open mornings for September 2025 will commence in the Autumn Term 2024.

Admission arrangements for pupils with disabilities

Children are admitted to Fulfen Primary School according to our Admissions Policy. The admission of pupils with disabilities is the same as those applied to pupils without disabilities. The school fully complies with the Equality Act 2010 and the School Admissions Code in relation to the arrangements for the admission of disabled pupils. Where the school is oversubscribed, all children are admitted in accordance with the published oversubscription criteria. Where a child is disabled the school will make reasonable adjustments to ensure that no disabled child is placed at a substantial disadvantage compared to the other pupils.

Parents and carers of children with disabilities are advised to speak to us prior to admission to discuss any reasonable adjustments required so we can plan accordingly.
